Ruby had her first visit to the vet today. It went surprisingly well! She sat on my lap on the way and was so calm in the office. She really liked the vet, she tried to go with him when he left the room:) I was like : "Ruby, stay with mommy:)" We walked over to land of paws to see her old home and she was so excited. She was smelling everything and trying to play with all the puppies! Ruby loves other dogs which is really nice. I was hoping she would not be afraid.

She has really opened up this past week. She loves to play with the tennis ball, she jumps around to get it and it is so cute! Evan and I laugh so hard. She also loves Mr. Lion. He is her lion stuffed animal. She loves to chew on his head, true love!

She had her first bath last night! It went ok, she was scared but was so good with it. Yesterday was the first day Evan and I both worked and Ruby was in her crate for most the day. She thought that was stupid and pooped everywhere. So, it was bath time! Her hair is so thick and fluffy we have to blow dry her:)

She is laying on the rug passed out after her big morning. I think we might try to take a walk later...she is still not sure about this leash thing:)

Miss Ruby Wright

We first met Ruby this past Saturday. Evan and I went to Dunkin Donuts for our morning coffee and for our favorite Butternut donuts:) After breakfast I asked Evan if we could go to the puppy store. I love going to Land of Paws and the past few years I have gone pretty frequently to look for Wheaten Terriers. None had captured my heart before. We walked in and they magically had three wheatens! The usually don't have any! I was particularly intrigued by one of them. There were two brand new puppies and one that was 12 weeks. We got her out to hold and I immediately fell in love. We stayed for a long time, holding her and talking and asking questions and talking, asking more questions....

That night we went home and I could not stop thinking about her. I couldn't sleep I was so excited. The next day we decided to go back and see her! Evan tells me that he knew it was a lost cause when we went back to visit. She would be ours!

We didn't bring Ruby home right away. We wanted to wait until I was done with my three long shifts for the week and we could be home with her all day. I went to visit her before work on Monday :)

When we first brought her home she was so nervous. Jessica at Land of Paws bathed Ruby and blow dried her hair. She was not a big fan I guess:) They put a cute bandanna on her!

My fluffy baby!

We brought her home last night and so far it has gone pretty well. Ruby is pretty slow to warm up, right now she is sleeping on our rug between our couch and the coffee table. She likes to be wedged between them, I think she feels safer. She slept all night but left me a sweet surprise in her kennel this morning. She did not want to come out of her kennel:) I feel like it is usually the opposite...she wanted to go in and did not want to come out. Hopefully after a few days she will warm up and trust us.

We took her outside for the first time today. She was not sure what to think. It was raining and she just wanted to explore the whole backyard. We did not accomplish the peeing thing outside...maybe another time:)

We will keep you all posted on our new baby! She is so sweet and beautiful.

So I have been thoroughly enjoying pumpkin spice lattes from panera, white chocolate mochas from the bucks, bits of Christmas music (I have to sneak it, Evan is an after Thanksgiving kind of man:), snowflake pancakes and my new project: Stockings! I decided to make Evan and I stockings this year! I think it will be a Christmas tradition. (Evan's is still in progress:)

Levi came over this weekend and we had a game/movie/fondue night!

Our blog needs an update of some sort I realized and since I'm not very good at the "day in the life" or cute picture updates, I'm going to do a tribute. Earlier this week I happened to be driving in my car at 8 o'clock and so I turned on Adventures in Odyssey and had a listen. This morning while cleaning I put on some old favorites (songs that is) from Five Iron Frenzy. This got me thinking about these two staples of my growing up years and I realized that both of these unassuming media constructs have had lasting affects on my world view. Other than my parents, I can't think of any other person, group or event that has shaped my view of the world, of God and my values more than Odyssey and Five Iron. So...

here's to you Odyssey...

I listened to your stories every night for as long as I can remember until I was 18 years old. You taught me that if something seems to good to be true then examine it critically, because there's a good chance it is. You taught me to try being friends with everyone, whether they seem odd or are annoying; you also taught me to look past those exterior qualities and look for who the person really is. Finally, you taught me that old things are full of stories and those stories are full of wisdom. Cheers to you Odyssey!

Your music was my first choice during high school. Though you may be known for songs like "Kingdom of the Dinosaurs," "Combat Chuck" and the pants songs, I remember sobbing to "On Distant Shores" as I felt a sample of how deep and unconditional God's love is for me. You inspired me toward reaching a lost world in "Where Zero meets 15." You showed me how God delights in even our most feable or misguided attempts to show love in "Dandelions." You taught me about the difference between Christ's love and man-made religion with songs like the "Old West" and "Beautiful America." You taught me about justice with songs like "The Day We Killed." I am sitting at our kitchen table listening to music while my coffee cake is in the oven. Something you might not know about me: I love sour cream.

So much that Evan and I buy the giant tub from costco. It is 3lbs.

Today I decided to make something with that sour cream and Julie's coffee cake came to mind:)

And now I think about it all the time. I am learning names of flowers and when to plant certain flowers...I am loving it:)

The other night around ten Evan and I were in our office. Evan was working on homework and I was reading a book. This was our conversation:

M: I'm hungry. I want a snack.
E: Me too.
M: Well does popcorn or ice cream sound good?
E: No, I want steak.
M: You want what?
E: Steak. I want a steak snack.

So, we went to taco bell. And Evan got his steak snack. He looks pretty pleased:)

Here is our awesome new light fixture that Brandon Yates installed for us! We are no longer in the dark. We have not had light in our kitchen for months and before that we had this awful lantern thing... Thank you Brandon!

I think spring is finally here. Although I woke up this morning and it was like the arctic in our house. I had to turn the heater back on. But my tulips are in bloom and my peonies are starting to come up. I am so excited.

Today I had lunch at chick-fil-a with Julie and her kids. We had so much fun. I did not take any pictures though. They are getting so big.

I have been sick the past week-not really sure what it is, a cold or a sinus infection...I have been sleeping a lot. Went to work one night this week and came home at three in the morning, thought I was dying. I am a little dramatic when I am sick. I am not a tough it out kind of girl. I want to be taken care of:)

Projects and Club love!

Evan and I have been busy with projects this month. There are more on the list but I thought I would share a few!

Evan and I got handy this weekend and busted out some tools:) We decided it was high time to hang curtains in our kitchen. And thanks to Chrissy Wolgemuth I found curtains that I love!

Another project that I have always wanted to do is frame all the Club weddings! I think it is so special that we have been bridesmaids in each others weddings! I love you girls!

Yes! I think they can! We are hoping for second generation club love!

I wanted to dry my wedding bouquet and save it in a special way. I decided for the Beauty and the Beast route:) Belle is my favorite Disney princess anyway:)

I have tried three times to post new pictures to the blog. The blog has rejected me and I am over it. So, no new pictures. I really would love to have solely a picture blog, I am not much into writing...so I will make a list:

-I got to spend time with Megan and Elli this week!

So I haven't posted in such a long time! But we are still alive and doing well. We have been decorating and hanging pictures up like mad and our house looks more like our own. I will take some pictures this weekend and put them up...but meg, you should put some up of your apartment:) I want to see it too! Or e-mail them to me:)
Yesterday we had a rough situation...we tried to move our awesome eclectic gold couch into our office, which we want to paint the walls purple or navy and make it kinda retro...but after many attempts and gouging the wall pretty good, we have decided it does not fit. I still want to see if it will go through the front window. :) We'll keep you updated.

Well, I don't update that often because really we don't have much new:) We don't have kids or any pets...so we are kinda boring. We move in a week which is really exciting! Friday is the big closing day. :) Only a few more days in our little cottage which is good. It is nice to have an end to things. We have loved living there but are ready to move on, use our wedding gifts, decorate and "nest", or maybe that is just me...:) I wonder how much Evan really is excited about decorating:)
I am at work today and we are pretty slow. Which is a theme these days. I am glad for the healthy babies...but it makes my job pretty boring. It is sad to wish for sick babies...to all you mommies it sounds wrong. I know, us NICU nurses are a little odd.
What else is new? Well we have been garage saleing (which I still cannot figure out how to spell that word) and finding some good deals. And our thank yous from the wedding are almost done. So don't worry, I did not forget your gift:)
We finished all the harry potter movies up to date and are going to read the last book before it comes out.
Most recent awesome thing I have done: I returned some library books to the Johnson County Library that really belonged to our church library..so that was pretty cool... I am still trying to track them down. So if you go to the library and try to check out 'Christy', don't, or maybe just call me:)
There are a lot of movies out/coming out that I want to see: Holmes, the new Katherine heigl movie, New Moon(I know, I admitted it:), and the Time Travellers Wife.
So, next week if you are bored come over and help me unpack! In my new house!

Well it is almost mid July and that makes Evan and I so excited because we get our new house on the 31st! Life has been good...lots of working...wishing we could both stay home and never work again:) maybe we should start buying lottery tickets:)
I can't wait to get into our house, decorate, set up my kitchen and think about furniture ideas...
Not much else is going on, but I will make a list of the highlights from the Wrights so far:
*Lemon meringue pie
*Living in a cottage
*our new life group on Wednesday nights
*thinking about our new house
*getting really into the Harry Potter movies...we are on the 4th one:)
*Marko and Polo-the two dogs we house sit
*All our friends' new babies: Avery, Elli and Piper
*Smores in the microwave...sometimes we eat more than our share in one sitting:)

Guess what? WE bought a house! Evan and I are homeowners!:) We are so excited to move in. We don't actually get the house until July 31, but we are getting closer!
Our first month of marriage has been wonderful. June 3 was a big day: our one month anniversary, the day we bought a house and the day we got our wedding pictures back! If anyone has not seen them you can go to gingerootphoto.com and click on proofs and then Evan and Michaela:)
Saturday is my birthday and I am so excited to spend the day with Evan. This is our first Saturday since we have been married that one of us is not working or has some big plans. So fun!

Hello all! I am writing you for my first time as Mrs. Evan Wright! We are doing very well and are so happy! Our honeymoon was amazing. Evan surprised me and took me to the Dominican Republic for nine days. I highly recommend it! :) We are back to real life, back to work and looking for a house. Life is sweet and we are loving being married. The wedding was perfect to us and we have so many wonderful memories. We have the best friends and family that made this time so special. We cannot wait to get our pictures back to see all that happened that day that we missed-I think we were both in a happy daze:)

I am overwhelmed with excitement about being married to Michaela!
I'm ready and waiting with eager anticipation for our wedding day!
I'm very tired and ready for a vacation.
Lately, I think our lives have revolved around that one monumental day...May the 3rd. Two weekends ago I had my bachelor party with the boys and we packed and moved a bunch of Michaela's stuff in preparation for moving.
Last weekend Michaela had a bachelorette party and we had a couples shower in Wellsville and we packed and moved the rest of Michaela's things.
And this next weekend we have another couples shower and I'm packing and moving some of my things while Michaela is at work.
And all the weekdays in between are filled with long, busy workdays and RSVP cards or lack thereof and thinking a lot about being married and searching for the perfect ties for me & my merry men and writing thank you notes for our awesome gifts and looking at potential decoration arrangements and thinking a lot about being married and packing suitcases for leaving town after the wedding and talking with Mr. DJ, Miss Florist, Mrs. Photography and more. I think Michaela and I both have blurry vision right now because, the earth may be spinning on it's axis as normal, but the world we live in is spinning on a different axis at a much faster pace.
Three things keep us steady and grounded and wild with excitement.
1) Our love for each other grows every single day and I heard a sweet sappy country song that told me our love will grow exponentially so that we'll look back on this time and think about how we thought we loved each other so much, but it's only a small hint at the greater love we will share years from now.
2) Friends and family have been such a blessing. We have been amazed by people we don't even know offering help or lending what they have. And I look at our families and even extended family when we are with them and I think, "They are not mine anymore, and they are not hers anymore, this is OUR family."
3) Prayer. When I pray about the wedding or for our marriage, I’m always encouraged. Even when I feel like I’m not doing the fiancé thing correctly and I don’t know how to be a husband and head of a family, I still feel a calming presence and I keep hearing a truth spoken that doesn’t come from within me: “you are about to open up a vast expanse of possibilities; the best is yet to come.”

Good morning. I haven't updated in a while and thought I would check in. We are down to final dress fittings, putting programs together and deciding on vows! I cannot believe it. When Evan asked me to marry him in October I thought May seemed so far off...and now it seems so close. :) Soon I will be Evans' wife, and I will have a husband. What a fun time of life!

Ready For Spring

Good morning! Today marks 62 days until the big day! Evan and I are getting so excited. Planning is coming along well and I just cannot believe that we only have two months left. We are still working on finding somewhere to live. Which is really exciting!
This month I have my first Bridal shower and I am really excited! I cannot wait to set up our house. And to live with Evan :)

Last weekend my Mom was hurt pretty badly and ended up with 54 stitches...so please pray for her. We are praying for no scarring!

Ahoy bloggers! I think that mostly means Megan and Alli, but I'm sure there are other beautiful people that read our blog as well. This is Evan bringing some male persepctive to things so don't be surprised to hear things like "basektball" or "tron" or "transformers." Over the past several weeks I have had to work 6 days each week, but I believe today is my last day of working on the weekend so I am stoked about that idea and really hope that turns out to be the case. Especially since I really don't have enough to do to keep me busy on the weekend so I get bored and end up posting on our blog. Michaela has been super daughter this weekend helping her parents out all day yesterday and much of today also. How lucky do you have to be to have a girl like her as your only daughter. Come to think of it, how lucky can I be to have a girl like Michaela as my wife. But I'm here and Michaela is there and we're getting married. In 70 days!

I use Julian dates every day in my job, which means that I always know what day of the year it is (today is the 53rd day of the year). That comes in handy for pretending I'm smart (I can tell you in usually less than 10 seconds how many days until your birthday), pretending I'm obsessive compulsive (counting down every day until Christmas), or realizing how fast days go by sometimes. So now I'm realizing that it's nearly March and that is exciting for many reasons. Allow me to listophy them for you.
1) Conference tournaments are a couple weeks away
2) The dance is 3 1/2 weeks away
3) All our friends and family will be receiving invitations in their mailboxes soon
4) Soon it will be inside 2 months until being married to Michaela
5) I love vacations and the most exciting one I've ever dared to embark upon is 10 weeks away
6) I usually don't mind cold weather, but I am VERY ready for Spring
7) Yet to be determined, but I'm hopeful and I like a list of seven rather than 6

Mondays, oh I hate Mondays. They make me so steamed. Weekends! I prefer the weekends!

Hello blog world. I am still recovering from Jason sending the wrong girl home on the bachelor tonight...I know, I have very important things to be worried about.

Well tomorrow is our one year anniversary round two! Evan and I started dating again last year on Feb. 17! Who knew that one phone call, bo lings Sunday brunch and the nelson could lead us to where we are :) Well, I always hoped for it!

We have 76 days until the wedding and I am getting very excited!

Guess what today is? My first dress fitting! I am so excited. I have been wearing my shoes around the house to break them in and see if they make the cut. I can't wait to see my dress when it fits me perfectly!

Also, another reason why today is so great is that I am watching Gilmore Girls on the couch and knitting my scarf. I love the Gilmore Girls and I am on the last season getting ready to watch the final episode. A little emotional not gonna lie.

Everything is going so well....we are still working on perfecting our invitations and I am starting to think about cakes...

Yesterday was our three month mark! 88 days!

Getting up this morning was rough...Monday mornings always are. My Unit at work is remodeling and so we are squished into a smaller temporary room. All we talk about at work is swatches, organizational options, more swatches and who has the best mullet/mustache on the worker dude crew.
We have been slow at work lately, which means more wedding planning and updating of the registries for me! :)
This morning marks 90 days! I think during the next few weeks Evan and I will be counting down the days with corresponding music from that era...so this week is the 90's...feel free to join in. The more backstreet boys, Brittany and Dave Matthews we can get the better!
This weekend Evan and I met with our DJ and planned out the reception, which was so much fun. So if you have any song requests make them known!
I am waiting for an example of our invitation before we can order them. I am getting very excited. I know the task of addresssing will be daunting...so if you want to help :) Julie? Love you!

92 days!

Life has been going on as usual. I noticed I have not updated in a while. :) Evan has been so busy at work...they are trying to make them slaves to the workplace! He works so hard and never has a bad attitude about it.

We have 99 days until May 3! We are getting so excited. Planning details like what shoes I will wear, what our cake will look like, how to decorate the church and how to invite our guests! I love the springtime and I think this anticipation will make the spring even better. Sometimes January and February seem long so it is so fun to have something to hope and plan for.

We are looking for somewhere to live, which is both exciting and daunting. I am hoping for a really small, cute house I can decorate.

Also loving having babies in the club. Little Elinor and Averie are so fun. I love having the girls!

Evan and I had the pleasure to go to Brandon and Julies' house on Sunday and spend the evening holding and loving on their babies! Daniel and Megan made it as well with beautiful Elinor! We had a great time. Crazy to think that we are still friends after all these years. And now we are engaged, married and having babies! I love it.

Evan and I are continuing our countdown...May 3 can't get here soon enough! What is it honey about 110 days?
